One pantry for the household, instead of one each. Off unless you turn it on.
Turning it on
You > Preferences > Family Group > Use the family pantry.
You will see a consent screen first. It is worth reading, because it is the moment your pantry contributions become visible to other people.
Becomes visible to your group: the items you add, their quantities, and your name beside them.
Never becomes visible: your food diary, weight, water, vitals, measurements, photos, targets, allergens, never-eat list, or your personal pantry.
You will also be offered a one-time copy of your existing pantry items into the shared one. It copies. It does not move. Your personal pantry is kept exactly as it is either way.
While it is on
- My Pantry shows the family pantry, with a banner saying so and each item labeled with who added it.
- The meal planner and shopping list work from the shared pantry.
- Your own allergens, never-eat list, macros and targets still govern your plan. Two people planning from the same pantry get different plans. Nobody else's dietary settings affect yours.
- Any participating member can add, edit or remove any item. It is a household cupboard, not a set of private drawers.
Turning it off
Instant. Your personal pantry comes back exactly as you left it.
Items you already added stay in the shared pantry (they belong to the household) and keep your name on them until you leave the group or delete your account, after which they show as added by a former member.
