Part of the Loopa iOS app guide.
The Fasting Live Activity is the live fasting clock Loopa puts on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island while a fast is running. It shows up automatically when you start a fast and clears itself when the fast ends, so you can watch the hours tick by without opening the app. It's the on-the-glass companion to The Fasting timer. See Using the iOS app for the rest of the app.
General wellness tracking, not medical advice.
On the Lock Screen
While a fast is open, the Lock Screen card shows:
- A flame with your protocol stamped next to it in capitals — "16:8", "OMAD", or whatever you're running — and "GOAL Nh" on the right for the target length.
- A large elapsed timer that counts up from the moment you started. It keeps ticking on its own; the app doesn't have to be running to move it.
- ENDS with the time your fast is due to finish (your start time plus the target hours).
- A progress bar filling from the start of the fast toward that goal time.
In the Dynamic Island
On phones with the Dynamic Island the same fast appears there too:
- Tap and hold to expand and you get the flame and protocol on the left, "ENDS" and the finish time on the right, the big elapsed timer in the middle, and the goal progress bar across the bottom.
- Collapsed, it shows the flame on the leading side and the elapsed time on the trailing side.
- Minimal (when another activity shares the island) it shrinks to just the flame.
The clock accent is the app's stamp red, and because the timer is plain counting text rather than an animation, it respects Reduce Motion.
How it starts and ends
You don't add or remove the Live Activity by hand — it follows your fast:
- When you start a fast — from The Fasting timer or by asking Siri (see Siri and Shortcuts) — the activity begins, stamped with that fast's protocol and target hours.
- While the fast runs it updates in place. The protocol stamp is fixed for the life of one fast; if you change protocol the app ends the old activity and starts a clean one.
- When you end the fast the activity is dismissed immediately.
The app reconciles the Live Activity against what your account says the current fast is, so it stays honest across devices — a fast you end on another device clears the activity here too, and duplicate or stale clocks are cleaned up rather than left running. If you've turned Live Activities off for Loopa in iOS Settings, the fast still runs and logs normally; you just won't see the on-glass clock.
