# Modmail Preferences

Modmail lets a forum's moderators send you private messages. You control how you're notified about them.
## Managing preferences
Go to **Account → Modmail preferences** (`/account/modmail-prefs`) to control:

- **Email notifications** — get an email when you receive a modmail message.

- **Digest frequency** — receive a daily digest instead of an email per message.

## Reading modmail
Modmail conversations appear in your **Messages** area at `/messages/modmail`, flagged so you can tell them apart from regular direct messages.
