A buddy is one person you choose to show part of your health record to. You pick which parts, how much detail, and how far back. You can pause it, change it or end it, and they never see anything you did not grant.
Nothing is shared until you say so. Adding somebody as a buddy opens nothing on its own.
Adding one
You can have up to 10 active buddies.
More › Buddies › Invite.
Enter their username, or an email address if they are not on Loopa yet.
Optionally give them a name only you see, so a list of handles reads like a list of people.
They get an invitation and decide. Accepting adds you both as friends as well.
An email invite gets the same answer whether or not that address already has an account. You cannot use the invite box to find out who is a member.
Choosing what they see
Ten categories, each one off until you turn it on:
food, vitals, activity, goals, fasting, water, sleep, weight, measurements, supplements.
For each, you also choose:
- How much detail. Full entries, a summary, or just whether you kept a streak.
- How far back. Everything, only from the day you shared, or a rolling window such as the last 30 days.
Changes take effect immediately. A category you take off the list is revoked in the same moment, at the server rather than in the screen, so an app left open on their phone cannot go on reading it.
Pausing, and ending it
- Pause stops all sharing and keeps the arrangement. Resume puts it back exactly as it was.
- Withdraw ends it.
Both are yours to do at any time, without explaining.
Nudges, cheers and comments
A buddy can send you four things: a nudge, a cheer, a reaction or a comment.
- You can mute nudges and it takes effect for everybody.
- You can turn comments off entirely.
- A cheer or comment about a category you have not shared is refused. They cannot react to something they cannot see.
Accountability pacts
Two buddies can agree a pact: a category, a rule, a target and a period. It is a shared goal with a scoreboard of two, and it reads only what you already share.
What a buddy can never do
- See a category you have not granted.
- See detail beyond the level you set, or history before the window you chose.
- Change any of your sharing settings.
- Keep reading after you pause or withdraw.
Every time a buddy reads your data it is recorded, and you can see that record. See Your data screen.
This is not the same as a coach or a family group
- Loopa Coach is a person you work with, with its own consent screens.
- Family group is a subscription and a shared pantry, not a health-sharing arrangement.
- Friends and following is the social graph and shares no health data at all.
