Trade feedback

2 min read · 367 words · 1 revision · Updated Sep 6, 2026

Trade feedback is the reputation attached to buying and selling in the marketplace. One rating per trade, from each side, tied to a listing that actually existed.

Leaving it

After a trade, the listing page offers a feedback form to whichever side you were.

  • One to five stars.
  • A comment, up to 500 characters. Optional.

A buyer may leave one rating on the seller, per listing. A seller may leave one on each distinct buyer for that listing. So a listing with three buyers produces at most four ratings, and nobody can rate the same trade twice.

The other party is notified when yours lands.

How a star becomes a score

Your stars are what people read. Underneath, the summary counters group them:

  • 4 or 5 stars counts as positive.
  • 3 stars counts as neutral.
  • 1 or 2 stars counts as negative.

That is why a profile shows both the stars and a positive/neutral/negative tally, and why a three-star rating moves the tally less than the comment beside it might suggest.

Reading somebody's

A member's feedback is on their profile, and at /feedback/<username>, with every rating and comment and the listing each came from.

It stays visible even if the marketplace is switched off for the community. Reputation somebody earned by trading honestly does not disappear because a feature was turned off afterwards, and it is deliberately served from outside the marketplace's own gate for that reason.

What it is not

  • Not karma. Forum reputation is separate. See Karma and achievements.
  • Not editable after the fact. Write it once, and write it as if it will be read later.
  • Not a place for a dispute. If a trade went wrong in a way that needs somebody to act, report it. See Community rules and reporting.

Writing feedback worth reading

  • Say what happened. Shipped fast, described accurately, answered messages.
  • Rate the trade, not the person.
  • A neutral rating with a clear comment is more use to the next buyer than a punitive one star with nothing under it.
