Editing or deleting a food entry

4 min read · 800 words · 1 revision · Updated Oct 25, 2026

Part of the Loopa iOS app guide.

Logged the wrong amount, put lunch under breakfast, or picked the wrong food? You can change any entry on today's Food screen, or delete it. Editing and deleting are part of every plan, including Loopa Basic.

General wellness tracking, not medical advice.

Opening an entry

On the Food screen (Health tab › The Log › Food), find the food in its meal card and either:

  • tap the pencil beside it, or
  • press and hold the entry and choose Edit entry.

The Edit Entry sheet opens. Cancel at the top left closes it without changing anything.

The iPhone Food screen shows today only. To change an entry on an earlier day, use the Food page in a browser, which has date arrows (see Logging food), or log the food again with the right Time on the Add Food screen.

What you can change

  • Name: what the entry is called in your log.
  • Servings or Amount, depending on how the food was logged. A food logged by the serving shows Servings, starting at 1, with − and + that move it by a quarter; you can also type a number, and the smallest is a quarter. It multiplies everything you logged: 2 doubles the entry, 0.5 halves it. A food logged by weight shows Amount in the unit you logged it in, grams or ounces. Type the new weight and everything rescales to match: change 202 g to 150 g and the calories and macros follow.
  • Calories (kcal or kJ, following your units), Protein, Carbs and Fat in grams. Changing Servings or Amount refills these. A number you type here is saved exactly as typed, so you can correct one figure without touching the rest.
  • MEAL: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner or Snack. This moves the entry to another meal on the same day.

The day and time the entry was logged stay as they were. There is no date or time field here.

Marking it as a drink

The next card is for fluids. Turn on This is a liquid and Loopa fills in a Volume from the serving or the name if it can, in your liquid unit (ml, l, fl oz or cups), and guesses a type. Correct either if needed. The types are Water, Milk, Coffee, Tea, Soda, Juice, Sports drink, Alcohol and Other.

Turn the switch off and save, and the entry stops counting as a drink. Counting all liquids explains how drinks count toward your day.

The Nutrition Facts preview

Below the fields, a small Nutrition Facts panel shows Calories, Total Fat, Total Carbohydrate and Protein as they will be saved. It follows the fields as you type. Calories here are always in kcal, as on a printed label.

Saving

Tap Save changes. The entry is updated in place and the Food screen shows UPDATED. Anything the sheet does not show, such as the entry's vitamins and minerals, is scaled with the servings or amount you changed.

If it does not save, an alert reads Couldn't save and That change didn't save. Check your connection and try again. Tap OK and try again; nothing was changed.

Sharing it with your family

If you are in a Loopa Family Group and family meal sharing is on for you, the sheet has one more button:

  • Share with family when you have not changed anything.
  • Save and share with family when you have. Your changes are saved first, so your family gets the corrected version. If the save fails, nothing is shared.

Either way the sheet closes and the share confirmation opens. See Sharing a meal with your family. Sharing is part of Loopa Premium.

Deleting

From the Edit Entry sheet, tap Delete entry. An alert asks Delete this entry? with Delete and Cancel.

From the Food screen, without opening the entry:

  • tap the bin beside it, or
  • press and hold it and choose Strike from the record.

Both ask Strike this entry from the record? and Remove the food from today's log? Tap Strike to delete it. The Food screen shows STRUCK FROM THE RECORD.

A deleted entry comes off the day's totals straight away. There is no undo, so log it again if you change your mind. The one exception is an idea you logged from What should I eat?, which offers Undo for five seconds.

Copying instead of moving

To have the same food in two meals, press and hold it and choose Copy to another meal rather than changing its meal. See The Food log screen. Copying is part of Loopa Premium.
