Moderator actions are published. Anyone can read what moderators have done, in which forum, and when. It is at /mod/public-log.
The point is that moderation happens in the open. A community where decisions are invisible is one where every decision looks arbitrary.
What is listed
- Posts pinned and unpinned.
- Staff picks.
- Members banned, unbanned, shadow-banned or suspended in a forum.
- Category bans and their reversal.
- Threads moved, locked and unlocked.
- Posts deleted and restored.
The list is a fixed set, and adding to it is a decision somebody has to make. Actions are not published because nobody thought to hide them; each one on that list is there deliberately.
What is not in it
Usernames only. No email addresses, no IP addresses, and none of the free-text reason a moderator wrote.
That reason exists and is kept. It is in the moderation records a moderator sees and in your own appeal if you file one, but it is not published, because it routinely contains detail about the person it is about.
Filtering it
Narrow it by forum or by category with the filters on the page, so you can read what has happened in one room rather than everywhere at once.
If an action was about you
The log tells you what happened, not why. For that:
- Read the notice you were given, which carries the reason.
- Appeal it if you think it was wrong. See Appealing a suspension or ban.
- Ask the moderators through Modmail.
