Testosterone therapy in Loopa

3 min read · 572 words · 1 revision · Updated Sep 6, 2026

Loopa tracks testosterone therapy the same way it tracks every other protocol. Doses, sites, symptoms, check-ins and labs, in your own words and your own numbers.

Loopa has no opinion on your therapy. It does not suggest a dose, a level to aim for, a lab schedule or a change. It is a record you keep and a file you can hand to the person who prescribes for you.

This covers testosterone therapy of every kind, including gender-affirming testosterone therapy. It is one protocol type with one set of screens.

Protocols are a Loopa Premium feature.

Setting it up

Health › Protocols › Testosterone therapy.

  • More than one compound is normal here, so add each separately with its own schedule.
  • Names are free text. Type what you are on. Loopa holds no catalog of compounds and does not check the name against one.
  • Route and site come from a fixed body map, so the rotation view works.

Everything you type is encrypted with your own key. The names, amounts, notes and symptoms are never in plain text anywhere.

What changes across the app

Setting up this protocol adjusts a few goals. Each is a default you can change, and each says where it came from:

  • Protein defaults to 1.8 g/kg, adjustable between 1.2 and 6.0. The 1.6 figure often quoted is the plateau above which extra protein stopped adding to resistance-training gains in a meta-analysis (Morton et al., 2018); the higher default here reflects a period of active training.
  • Calories are treated as a ceiling rather than a floor.
  • Recovery is weighted up, so the week plan offers at most two heavy days.
  • Training leans toward hypertrophy in what is suggested, not in what is required.

Testosterone therapy in men with hypogonadism increases lean mass, which is why training and protein are the two things Loopa foregrounds (Bhasin et al., Endocrine Society clinical practice guideline, 2018).

Labs

Enter results as panels with the date on the report. Loopa stores them, charts them and puts them in your appointment summary.

No reference ranges are shown, and nothing is flagged high or low. What is normal depends on the assay, the timing relative to your dose, and you. Your lab's range and your prescriber's reading are what count.

A coach can be shown a summary, if you say so

If you work with a Loopa coach, you can grant them a pattern, schedule and wellbeing view. It shows the shape of your protocol, your dose days and your wellbeing trend. It shows no compound name, no amount and no lab value.

It is off until you switch it on, per coach, and you can withdraw it. See Sharing your protocol with a coach.

What Loopa will never do

  • Suggest, set or change a dose or its timing.
  • Tell you a level is low, high or optimal.
  • Recommend a lab schedule.
  • Compare you to anybody else.

Where this comes from

The lean-mass framing is from the Endocrine Society clinical practice guideline on testosterone therapy in men with hypogonadism (Bhasin et al., 2018); the protein plateau figure is Morton et al. (2018). Full citations are at loopahealth.app/sources. Loopa does not give medical advice.
