The Apple Watch app

Part of the Loopa iOS app guide.

The Apple Watch app is the Loopa companion for your wrist, a deliberately tiny two-tap quick-logger for water and mood. It carries no login of its own; the iPhone app hands it the keys, and the watch saves straight to the same account. It brings the two-tap spirit of The Quick-Log button to the watch face. For the phone app, see Using the iOS app.

General wellness tracking, not medical advice.

What's on the watch

The watch home screen is one short scroll:

  • A "LOOPA" header.
  • A +8 oz Water button. One tap logs 8 ounces of water to today's log.
  • A MOOD row of five faces: 😖 😕 😐 🙂 😄, worst to best. Tap one to log how you're feeling.
  • A result line at the bottom that confirms what happened.

That's the whole app: water and mood, nothing else. It's built for the moments when reaching for your phone isn't worth it.

Logging from the wrist

Tap the water button or a mood face and the watch posts it immediately. While a tap is in flight the button shows a small spinner and the controls are disabled so you can't double-log. On success you get a green "✓ +8 oz" or "Mood filed" line and a success haptic. The water you add shows up in The Water screen and on Today's Page like any other entry; the mood goes to your daily vitals.

If something goes wrong the result line tells you plainly. A network hiccup says the entry could not be filed and to try again, and an unlinked watch prompts you to open Loopa on your phone.

How it links to your phone

The watch never handles your password. The iPhone app relays your current session (a short-lived access token plus your account's address) to the watch over the standard Apple Watch link (WatchConnectivity), the same way the widgets get a token. The phone re-sends it when it launches, comes to the foreground, or you sign in, so the latest session always wins. Because the watch keeps that relayed session, it can still save a log even if your phone isn't within reach at that moment.

If the watch has never been linked, it shows "Open Loopa on your phone to link." Open the phone app once and the token is pushed across. If the relayed token has gone stale (the phone will have refreshed it), the watch shows the same prompt; open the phone app and it re-links.
