Where your prescriber has not told Loopa something, a protocol can show what the published guidance says. The Guidelines screen is where that lives. It quotes the document, links to it, and steps aside the moment your prescriber's own plan covers the same thing.
Published guidance is not an instruction for you. It is what a product label or a published guideline says, shown so you can read it and take it to your appointment. Where your prescriber has given you an instruction, theirs is the one to follow. Questions about your medication belong with your prescriber.
Guidelines are part of Loopa Premium, like the rest of Medication protocols. Every new account starts with 14 days of full Premium.
Getting there
Open Health tab › The Log › Protocols, tap Dashboard on the protocol, then Guidelines in the links at the bottom. The screen is titled Guidelines.
What is on the screen
The explainer. The first card is headed Where your prescriber has not set something: "These are published guidelines, not instructions for you. Where your prescriber has set something, theirs is what Loopa shows and none of this appears."
If your prescriber's plan covers some areas, the card also names them: "Your prescriber has already covered" and the areas, "so nothing published appears for those." See Sending your prescriber a link for how their plan reaches Loopa.
The items. Below are the published items for what you take, grouped under headings such as what you take and when, cautions, monitoring and a missed dose. Each item shows:
- The text, quoted from the document.
- Worth telling your prescriber, on an item the document flags as something to raise.
- A reference label and a source button. The source button opens a Source sheet with What Loopa took from it, Open the document (opens the original) and Done. The sheet carries the line: "Loopa shows what this document says. It is not a plan for you, and your prescriber's instructions come first."
Remind me about this. Some items can become a reminder. Under the button is the reminder Loopa would create, so you see it before you tap. Tap Remind me about this and the row changes to Added to your reminders, and the app shows REMINDER ADDED. It is an ordinary reminder: change it or turn it off with the rest of your reminders under You tab › Your health › Reminders. If it cannot be added you see "Couldn't add that reminder. Try again."
Where this came from. The last card lists every source the screen used, with the version of the set and the date it took effect: "Set N, effective" and the date.
Turning published guidance off
The switch Show published guidelines is on to begin with: "Turning this off hides them for this protocol. Your prescriber's own instructions are unaffected." Turn it off and the app shows HIDDEN. The screen then reads You turned these off ("Loopa is not showing published guidance for this protocol. Nothing your prescriber set is affected."), with Show them again to bring them back (the app shows SHOWING).
The switch is per protocol, so turning it off for one leaves the others as they are.
When there is nothing to show
- Not shown here: "Published guidance is switched off for this protocol on your account's plan."
- Nothing to add: "Your prescriber has set everything Loopa would otherwise show published guidance for."
Published guidance elsewhere in a protocol
Two other screens draw on the same set:
- Where this stands on the Log a dose sheet, a one-line status for the entry you are logging. See Logging a dose, a missed dose or a change.
- What published guidance expects in the symptom journal, and What the label says on the A missed dose sheet in Dose history. See The symptom journal and daily check-in.
On Android
The Android app has the same Guidelines screen, with the same switch and the same reminder button.
