Using the Android app

4 min read · 723 words · 4 revisions · Updated Sep 5, 2026

One of three ways to use Loopa. See also Using the iOS app and Using Loopa on desktop.

The Loopa Android app is in testing. It is not on general release yet, so you need an invitation to install it. It is a beta, so builds change often and some screens are still being added.

What it does today. The Android app covers the health tracker end to end: your day, food logging with barcode scanning and meal photos, water, weight, vitals, measurements, activity, nutrients, your plan, trends, progress photos and comparisons, fasting, habits, reminders, the community feed, forums, messages, buddies and challenges.

A few things on iOS have not landed on Android yet: mobieusLearn courses, support tickets, passkey sign-in, and per-notification preferences. All four are available on desktop, and it is the same account and the same data. Nothing you log anywhere is stranded.

Installing (beta)

  1. Accept the tester invitation sent to your email.
  2. Open the store listing from the link in that invitation.
  3. Tap Install.
  4. Open the app and sign in with your email and password.
  5. If you use two-factor authentication, enter your 6-digit code.

Updates arrive like any other app once you are on the testing track.

Finding your way around

After the splash and sign-in you land in the app's small set of screens:

  • Today shows the day's headline numbers: what you have eaten, what is left, weight, and your streak. The equivalent of Today's Page on iOS.
  • Food is where you search, log, and review what you have eaten. See Logging food and Food search.
  • Feed is the community feed. See The Feed.
  • Profile holds your account, settings and sign-out.
  • Buddies lists your accountability partners and anything they have chosen to share with you.
  • Challenges is where you browse, join, create, and follow challenges and their leaderboards.

First run walks you through onboarding (height, weight, goal, pace, and which trackers you want). Same questions as everywhere else; see Onboarding and first setup and Setting up your profile.

Quick log

You do not have to open a screen to record the common things. Quick log covers:

  • Log weight
  • Energy check-in
  • INR reading
  • Fasting glucose reading

Home-screen widgets

Four widgets, so the number you care about is on your home screen without opening anything:

  • Today. Calories in, calories left.
  • Water. Your intake against your goal.
  • Weight. Your latest weigh-in and direction of travel.
  • Fuel. How much room is left in the day.

There is also a Quick Settings tile, so you can log from the shade you pull down from the top of the screen.

Health Connect

Android's shared health store. Grant permission once and Loopa reads:

  • Steps, exercise sessions
  • Weight, body fat
  • Heart rate, resting heart rate
  • Blood pressure, blood glucose, oxygen saturation, body temperature
  • Hydration
  • Sleep

That means a watch, scale, or another fitness app that writes to Health Connect feeds your record without you typing anything. It is the Android counterpart of Apple Health sync. You control every data type individually in Health Connect, and you can revoke any of them at any time.

Wear OS

There is a companion app for a Wear OS watch, so you can see the day and log from your wrist.

App Lock

Turn on App Lock to require your fingerprint, face, or screen lock before the app opens. Worth doing, since your record holds weight, vitals and photos. You will be asked to Confirm it's you when you enable it and each time you open the app.

Offline

The app notices when you lose signal and tells you: You're offline. Anything you log will sync when you're back. Keep logging; it catches up when the connection returns.

Fasting

A fasting timer runs as a background service, so the clock keeps counting with the app closed. See Intermittent fasting for how to choose a schedule.

Subscription

Membership is handled through the Play Store on Android. See Subscription and the full report for what a membership includes.
