**An organization is a private group inside Loopa. A gym, a club, a team at work, a family, or a handful of friends.** Somebody hands you a code or a link, you join, and you are in their room and their challenges. Nothing else about your account changes.

## What joining gives you
Two things, and this is the complete list:
* **A private room.** A forum space for the organization's members. Nobody outside it can read it or find it. * **Their challenges.** Contests the organization runs for its own members. Take part in the ones you like and ignore the rest.
**Joining is free, and always will be.** There is no purchase screen to join, to post, to enter a challenge or to appear on a leaderboard, including on Loopa Basic.
## Joining with a code
1. Open **Organizations** in the app, or go to **loopa.mobieus.io/org/join** in a browser.
1. Enter the code you were given. It is eight characters, written in two groups of four with a dash between them, like ABCD-EFGH. The dash appears as you type, and a code typed without it, or in lower case, reaches the same place.
1. **Check the name.** Loopa shows you the organization's name and description before anything happens.
1. Join.
## Joining with a link
An organization can also hand you a link instead of a code. Tap it on a phone with Loopa installed and the app opens straight on the join screen with the code already filled in. Tap it anywhere else and you get a page that explains what to do next.
Either way you see the organization's name and description before you are in.
## You can be in as many as you like
**Joining one organization never removes you from another.** Belong to your gym, your running club and your team at work all at once, each with its own room, its own challenges and its own color. Your role can be different in each one. An ordinary member of one, an admin of another, the owner of a third.
**Organizations** in the app lists every one you are in.
## What your organization can see
**Nothing you have logged. Not any of it, by any route.** Not your food, your weight, your workouts, your activity, your measurements, your photos, your cycle or your vital signs. Not an admin, and not the person who owns the organization.
**There is no setting anybody could switch to change that.** What a role in an organization is allowed to do is a fixed list, anything outside it is refused, and there is nothing health-shaped on the list to be granted, asked for, or given by mistake.
Nobody at your organization can send you a training plan or a recommendation either. That is something a **coach** does, and a coach is a person you chose. See [Loopa Coach](/know/loopa-coach).
What the organization does see is what anybody in the room sees: the display name and profile photo on the posts you write, and how many people are in it.
## Challenges are your decision, one at a time
**You are never entered into anything.** You see the challenges your organization is running, what each one measures and when it runs, and you choose which to take part in.
Entering shares **one number**: your total for that challenge's measure, over the dates it runs, with the other people in the organization. Loopa says so in those words on the screen where you enter, and that is the whole of what leaves your account. No daily breakdown, no history, and nothing about anything else you log.
You can **leave a challenge** whenever you like, and nothing of yours appears on the board afterwards. A leaderboard can be **named** or **anonymous**, and the challenge tells you which before you enter.
Results you have already recorded stay on the board of a contest that has finished, because other people took part in it too.
## If a code does not work
**Check you are on the right screen.** An organization code and a challenge code are different things. Enter an organization code in the invite box on **Challenges** and Loopa tells you so and points you to **Organizations**, which is where it works.
**Check every character.** The codes deliberately contain no O, I, L, U, 0 or 1, because those are the ones that get misread. If you typed one of those, something was read wrong.
Loopa will not guess. Correcting a mistyped character could land you in a different organization without your knowing, so a code that does not match is answered with "check that and try again" rather than a best guess.
A code can also be **retired or expired**. Organizations issue a new one whenever an old one has traveled further than intended, and some codes are set to run out after a day, a week or a month. Ask yours for the current code.
## Leaving
**One tap, and nothing is deleted.**
The room closes for you, and you come out of any of the organization's challenges that are still running. Your account, your subscription, your history, your logs and your records are untouched and stay yours. Posts you wrote stay in the room, and results you already recorded stay on the boards they are on.
The same is true if the organization is suspended or deleted. Your account was never theirs.
**If you own an organization, leaving works differently.** An owner hands it to another member or deletes it. See [Managing your organization](/know/managing-your-organization). Being an ordinary member or an admin of one organization never stops you leaving it, whatever else you are somewhere else.
## If an organization is suspended
The room goes **read-only**. It is still there and still readable, nobody new can join, nobody can post, and you can leave whenever you want. Everything you have logged is untouched.
## What a coach can see
Exactly what you switch on, category by category, and nothing before you do. Every time a coach reads something of yours it is listed in **Your Data** with the date, and you can withdraw any category at any time, which also closes what they could already see, not just what happens next.

## Starting your own
Anybody with Loopa Premium can create one, and there is no limit on how many you run. See [Creating an organization](/know/creating-an-organization).
