Messages is your direct-message inbox, the Messages tab (the envelope on the bottom bar). It lists your one-to-one conversations on the light background, and its tab icon carries an unread badge when someone has written to you. The conversation list
Each conversation is a card showing:
- The other person's avatar, with a dot when they're online.
- Their username and when the last message arrived.
- A one-line preview of the last message. When the conversation has unread messages the preview is shown brighter and an unread count badge appears on the card.
Pull down to refresh the list. Conversations with people you've blocked are hidden. If you have no conversations yet, the list shows a "No Correspondence" message with a New Message button.
Starting a conversation
The compose button (the pencil-and-square icon) in the top-right opens a new-message screen where you choose who to write to and send the first message.
Inside a conversation
Tap a conversation to open it. Your messages sit on the right in the accent color; the other person's sit on the left. A composer runs along the bottom: a Message field that grows up to four lines, and a send arrow that's enabled once you've typed something. While the thread is open the app checks for new messages every few seconds, so replies arrive without you doing anything, and the view scrolls to the newest message.
The ⋯ menu in the top-right of a conversation offers:
- View profile. Open the other person's profile.
- Report. Flag the person for review.
- Block. Block them and close the conversation.
Reacting to a message
You can react to any message with an emoji.
- Long-press a message bubble and choose Add reaction. The reaction quick bar opens. Six reactions, plus a "+" that expands to the full set. Messages accept any single emoji.
- Reactions show as chips beneath the bubble, each a small capsule with the emoji and its count; your own are highlighted. Tap a chip to add or remove that emoji, and long-press the chips to open a sheet showing exactly who reacted.

The message long-press menu also offers Report message on messages that aren't yours.
Unread and notifications
The unread badge on the Messages tab inside Community (and the count badges on the conversation cards) come from the same background check the app uses for notifications. Read a conversation and its unread count clears.
